You may have noticed that Thursday's schedule is a little funny. That is because my children's orchestra TACO (The Awesome Children's Orchestra) is switching from Fridays to Thursdays. We are also starting Lindon Chamber Orchestra this fall which is a youth orchestra with Junior High and early High School aged musicians. I'd love to see some of you there! We will have tuition pricing and exact times soon.
On another note, I originally told you I would not be teaching the first week of August due to a string camp but that string camp has been canceled so I will now be teaching the entire week.
Lastly, this week is the last week in the old house so make sure to remember to come to 247 S 100 E in American Fork starting next Monday. Hope you are all enjoying your summer!
Cheers!

Please mark these on your calendars.
Summer fiddle recital was originally planned for August 14th but it looks like it is a bad weekend so we will be holding it on Friday, AUGUST 21st at 6:00 p.m. This date is a little unusual as that will be the first week of school but I'm hoping more will be able to attend. It will be held at Lindon Park and the dress is casual or cowboy or cowgirl attire! There will be $15 recital fee.
The Listening Challenge is still going on. I've had one student already do her 100 times listening and she earned a 2 liter bottle of ginger ale! I'd love to see more finishing up on their listening. For this summer, I will be issuing a new challenge. Summer is a great time to be listening on long car rides or plan adventures to new places. It will involve a points system.
For Elementary Aged Kids :
If you listen to a symphony in its entirety, then you will earn 5 points.
If you listen to a string quartet in its entirety, then you will earn 5 points.
IF you listen to a violin or viola concerto in its entirety, then you will earn 5 points.
If you create a piece of art while listening then you will earn 5 points.

If you watch Fantasia or Fantasia 2000 then you will earn 5 points each.
Going to an art museum will earn you 10 points.
If you go to live symphony concert then you will earn 10 points.
If you perform for 5 different people this summer then you will earn 5 points.
Rewards:
5 points = one thing from the treat box
10 points= one thing from the toy box
20 points = 2 liter bottle of soday, King size candy bar, or larger toy.
For Junior High and High Schoolers:
If you listen to a symphony, or orchestral work in its entirety, then you will earn 5 points.
If you listen to a string quartet in its entirety, then you will earn 5 points.

Spring Break
Hello All!
Thank you all for your hard work and support of our ensemble recital. I think it was a success! Spring break is upon us and I just wanted to make sure that it was clear that there will be no lessons this week. I hop you all have something fun planned.
I will be starting a new rewards program with my wonderful students. Listening to music is such a huge part of becoming and being a musician. I will now be offering a King Size candy bar or 2 liter soda to those who listen to their pieces 100 times. For my book 1 students, I would like them to listen to their whole book 100 times. Seems like a lot, but if they listen just 2 times a day, they will be done in less than 2 months!
Thanks for your support and don't forget to mark your calendars for our last group class of the semester.
Little Ones-Monday, May 4th 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Elementary- Monday, May 4th 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Junior High- Wednesday, May 6th 3:00-5:00 p.m.
High School-Tuesday, May 5th 3:00-5:00 p.m.

March Updates
Hello All!
Just a few updates for you today. Master Class is next week. Please refer to the previous post for dates and times. This will be a first performance for our recital pieces so please try to make it. I will put out a list next week of who will be attending each recital so take a look at your calendars and let me know of any conflicts. There is a $15 recital fee for this concert that can be included in March's tuition.
Speaking of tuition, I'd like to try something new. The business side of things is hard for me to keep track of because my artist soul hates spreadsheets :)So i have a new app that sends out invoices and if you would like to receive monthly invoices, just send me an email or text saying you would like them. I don't know about you, but I'm always grateful for reminders.
The week after group class, I would like to try something new. I will be clearing my schedule and assigning group rehearsal times. So this means there will be NO REGULAR LESSONS. For those performing with me or a parent, I would like to put you on Monday and a few on Tuesday. For those in ensembles involving other students, I would like to arrange a time so you have more than a 1/2 hour slot to rehearse. Here is what I need from you all. Please let me know of major conflicts during the 2nd week of March so I can arrange each group to have a time that works for all the members. If you are flexible, then you don't need to send anything and I will post all rehearsal times in an update this weekend. I know this might seem a little crazy but let's try and make it work.
Lastly, the final concert in Lindon Chamber Music Society's concert season is this Saturday and will feature youth artists from Lindon and the surrounding areas. Concert is free so bring a friend!
